The 50's style of hockey was a totally ifferent era as many know. Fighting was more prominant, chheap shots occured more and of course as even ESPN notes brawls were alot more than the yearly rarity. What current players could gone into Philly or Boston in the mid 70's w/their current teams and fit right in w/that style of play?
The ones that jump to mind:
Chris Simon
Chris Pronger
George Laraque
Jarome Iginla
Sean Avery
Zdeno Chara
Tomas Holdstrom
Ryan Smyth
Ray Emrey-Totally reminds me of Billy Smith but average
Vincent Lecavilier maybe
Pat Kaleta maybe
Jason Smith maybe
I'd say Superstars like Crosby, Ovechkin, Kovalchuk would likely get by on tons of talent as well
Which Current Players Could've Played in the 70s?live update
Good list Jacoby but IMO you left out the biggest ''throw back'' player of them all. When I see Mike Richards play....throw back is what comes to mind.
Avery probably would not have lasted in the 70's. He would have been carted off on a stretcher.
Which Current Players Could've Played in the 70s?norten
Chris Chelios. He almost did.
Of this list I would say only
Pronger,
Iginla,
Chara,
