Can I fit this processor in my old Compaq? If so, how exactly?

My Compaq Deskpro has a Pentium III, but can I safely add the following and, if so will it work OK?

And how do I add it on, please? Is it an external plug 'n' play, or do I fiddle with the innards somehow?

This is the specs of processor I have my eye on (with a link to the product page(s) at the end.

sorry mate, not a chance!

if only it was that easy.

instead you will need to upgrade your motherboard, power supply and ram also.

the motherboard you need will cost around 拢60 to 拢120, the ram between 拢30 and 拢150 depending on how much you want, and your going to need a minimum of 600watt power supply at a cost of around 拢50.
